About the Author
Dena Luchsinger is a writer, a tutor, a lay minister and a homeschool teacher. A former licensed minister, she founded of Proyecto Down, a non-profit, holistic ministry serving families affected by Down syndrome in Monterrey, Mexico. After returning stateside, she completed a Master of Arts degree with a dual emphasis in writing and practical theology; since then, she has been active in leading youth discussions in her local church, tutoring and teaching secondary students in writing English compositions, tutoring college writing students, and facilitating workshops for high school students and their parents. The parent of three children, one diagnosed with Down syndrome and autism, and another as "twice exceptional," or gifted and talented yet learning disabled, she is passionate about students of all ability levels achieving their potential. In addition to her projects with Crecer Publications, Dena Luchsinger is the author of two children's books: Sometimes Smart is Good/A Veces es Bueno Ser Inteligente (Eerdman's, 2007) and Playing by the Rules: A Story about Autism (Woodbine House, 2007).
